Educational overviews of common approaches. None of these is a recommendation, and no outcome is promised. Practice them with virtual money first.
Buy a fixed dollar amount on a schedule (e.g., weekly) no matter the price. Why: Smooths out entry price and removes the pressure of timing the market. Risks: In a long downtrend you keep buying a falling asset. It does not prevent losses. Try it: Each week, paper-buy $500 of BTC for a month and compare your average cost with a single lump-sum buy.
Buy assets you believe in and hold through volatility for years. Why: Simple, low-effort, and avoids reacting to short-term noise. Risks: Drawdowns of 50–80% have happened in crypto. Requires tolerance for large swings. Try it: Build a paper portfolio (e.g., 60% BTC / 40% ETH) and check it monthly instead of daily.
Hold a mix (e.g., crypto + large-cap stocks) and periodically rebalance back to target weights. Why: Rebalancing trims what ran up and adds to what fell, keeping risk near your target. Risks: Correlations rise in crashes, so diversification can help less exactly when you need it. Try it: Start 40% BTC / 20% ETH / 40% AAPL-MSFT-NVDA in the Trading Arena; rebalance when a weight drifts 5%+.
Hold an asset only while its price is above a moving average; step aside when it falls below. Why: Aims to ride big moves and sidestep prolonged declines. Risks: Choppy, sideways markets cause repeated small losses (whipsaws). Try it: Use the 7-day chart on Market Analysis: paper-buy when price crosses above its recent trend, sell when it crosses below.
Use the 80% / 95% confidence ranges on Market Analysis as a sense of likely volatility — not a target. Why: Wide ranges signal high uncertainty; sizing positions smaller when ranges are wide is a common risk habit. Risks: Forecasts are statistical estimates and are often wrong. Check the published accuracy before trusting them. Try it: Before each Trading Arena trade, note the 24h range and see how often the actual price lands inside it.
